What do kids love more than Stromboli’s pizza? Using their creative imaginations to have fun and make us crack up at their silly humor.

My kids love to lay back in our yard and stare up at the sky and find different shapes, animals, and cartoon characters in the clouds.

So it was only natural that when I brought our pizza home and placed it on the table for dinner that my little dynamos started to analyze the yummy swirls of cheese and assorted toppings to find hidden works of art in our Stromboli’s pizza.  By the time the table was set and we were ready to eat we had already seen a smiley face, a “pup”peroni, and a flower. The game then continued on through dinner with other pizza art creations the kids made with their toppings on their individual slices, while they nibbled away in great delight. It was a very fun and memorable dinner, and the pictures I took of their creation will forever remind me of their youthful creativity.

So next time you have a Stromboli’s family pizza night, use your imaginations and have a little fun, and if your kiddos find a fun shape in your pizza or design a fun artistic topping creation, take a picture and share it with us. At Stromboli’s NY Pizzeria, we’ll accommodate most special requests.  Things such as, include 1 extra sauce, or “light sauce please” or in my case, “no Romano Cheese” (due to my extremely strange allergy to heavily aged cheeses….go figure…and I’m 1/2 Italian too!

I came across this one and just had to repost it.  It appears as though on the request, the guest requested the pizza be cut “into a pentagram”.  Hats off to the pizzeria since they (as you can see in the photo) accommodated the special request.

Ok, how many of you travel?  You may have found yourself in this situation before.  You have a great pizza out and decide to take the remaining slices back to your hotel room as a midnight snack for later.  However, like me…you detest the thought of heating up the pizza in the subpar microwave ovens most hotel rooms have…if they even have one at all.  What is a pizza lover to do?

Well we could just eat it cold, but that’s just against everything I believe in with eating Pizza unless it was a cold tomato pie from Philadelphia where I grew up.  I could heat up the shower and let the steam warm the pizza and create a hot soggy mess.  I may be out of luck until I stumbled across a blog by a person who thought a small piece of tin foil (usually what the pizza may be wrapped up in) curved on the edges with the pizza inside and blasting it with a hot hair dryer turned out to work beautifully.

Don’t believe me?  Try it the next time you order one of our delicious pizzas from Stromboli’s NY Pizzeria in Windermere, Florida and save a few slices for the next day.  Before firing up the oven, try the tin foil hair dryer trick.  You’ll be surprised how well it works.

Ever felt like you were spinning your wheels at work?  Well, try spinning a pizza base.  Tony Gemignani (USA, left) spun 500 g (17.6 oz) of dough for two minutes to form a pizza base measuring 84.33 cm (33.2 in) wide at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, on 20 April 2006 during the filming of Guinness World Records Week for the Food Network channel.

From the largest pizza ever created to the the fastest pizza eater, pizza lovers from around the world have been setting pizza records for decades. This week in our Strombolis blog, we are going to take a look at some of the coolest Pizza World Records.

First up is Dennis Tran, who is 2008 set the world record of fastest pizzas ever made. Dennis was able to whip up three pizzas in just an astonishing 40 seconds! At the same event, Pat Bertoletti set a record of his own when he ate 17 slices of pizza in under five minutes. Check out the video here.

Next up is Magio from Poland who on August 30, 2010 set the world record for longest pizza ever made. Magio and his team of chefs cooked a pizza that was 445 yards in length. Raymond Marshall from the Guinness World Records was on hand measuring the finished pizza. “For the pizza to be the longest in the world, it has to be one single piece, so it cannot be small individual pizzas,” Marshall said. Finally, we have the longest line of pizzas ever created. This amazing accomplishment was achieved in Romania by a local pizza maker named Jerry with the help of Hellman’s Ketchup. Together, they were able to make 2,200 pizzas that, altogether, measured 1630.47 feet (496,97 meters). The recipe of the successful pizza required 600 kilos of special pizza flour, 400 kilos of mozzarella, 200 kilos of tomato sauce, 15 liters of olive oil, and three kilos of yeast. Now that’s a lot of pizza.

For some, March means Shamrocks, Leprechauns, Pots of Gold, and celebrating being Irish.  However others look to March as the season of madness…and this madness has the NCAA College Basketball fans written all over it and they’ll be enjoying some delicious Stromboli’s Pizza and Wings in the Windermere Florida area for certain!

So what is this “March Madness”?  Basically you have 64 college basketball teams all playing each other in single elimination games.  There are four “divisions” East, West, North, South.  Each division has 16 teams in it and the weakest teams are normally ranked 16th…while the strongest and most likely to win the tournament…are normally ranked 1st.  The first official 2 days of the event are the most crazy.  There’s games all over the place.  And with the advent of the internet and now your mobile devices…fans can tune in on their iPads and watch 1, 2,3 even 4 games all at once.

The craziness occurs when a team who is ranked as a #5 is beaten by a team ranked #12.  And it does happen and if you happen to be at a sports place where these games are being watched…be sure to see the look on some fans’ faces when this happens.  You’ll see them throwing a piece of paper (which is most likely their brackets) on the floor.  If you’ve never participated in a NCAA March Madness brackets pool.  You should really give it a whirl.  It’s a ton of fun and a great way to enjoy some incredible basketball games.
